Following up from our April session, Design for Water: Resilience and Discovery, we are delivering some resources to compliment the presentations.
We welcome your input and additional content on any good examples of how water was incorporated into your design. Do you know of any examples of regulatory programs that encourage these types of design practices (design for/with water) either in the U.S. or abroad?
Resource Listing:
- The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design
- Idea Book 3 Inside Out Design, courtesy of Shaw Industries, shares our Inside Out approach to design. Inside- out design lets us create indoor spaces that mimic the outdoors in aesthetics, healthy materials, light, texture and flow. We think, create and experience and we do it all with a purpose. Our inner spaces reflect our outer desires - to solve problems, form ideas, connect and transform.
- Impact of Student Learning, courtesy of Shaw Industries. When assessing the impact of design on student learning, three design principles are used to identify the full range of impact; Naturalness, individualism and stimulation. Within these principles are parameters that are used to determine what contributes to a positive learning environment.
- States of Water Collection, courtesy of Shaw Industries. The Designing for Experiential Spaces mini trends presentation states, "All spaces are aiming to provide multi-sensory experiences that stimulate scent, touch, taste, sound and sight to connect with users on a deeper, more meaningful level - while making experiences and products more memorable and top of mind." This quote directly correlates with States of Water, which aims to embody the beauty observed in water, in its three dimensions – solid, liquid and gas.
