I will taking school clients to new York, while attending the aia conference next week.  we are wanting to visit a couple of middle or high schools that are taking a risk educationally and architecturally.  the district is heavy in career academies and not interested in the status quo.  any advice on schools to visit either in the city or surrounding areas.

    any advice is appreciated.

Which schools are you seeing that are taking risks academically and architecturally?

Have you considered the Gateway Schools on West 60th Street?

You might find the Dining Commons (3rd floor) at The Dalton School of interest (East 89th Street)  As well, the Basement level is the Performing Arts.   Have fun in NYC!   cheers, Peter     Here are some links:

    Hi,

Here is a link from NYC Department of Education about Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design:

    Address:
    257 NORTH 6 STREET
    BROOKLYN, NY 11211

You should be able to navigate through this page for other High Schools.
I would recommend to get in touch with any of the school personnel to inform them about your visit.

    Cheers,
    Friederike
