Hello, we are embarking on a high school that is going to be focused on Equine Sciences, Horse Care, Horse Science and Management, and related programs. Any good example projects are going to be super helpful. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Saravanan,

This sounds like an amazing project!  We have a few Equestrian sites in Houston and surrounding areas.  One of my daughter's friends has participated in horse shows for years. I would be happy to put you in contact with her mom (an acquaintance of mine) who is an Interior Design Consultant and formerly owned an Animal Shelter.  She might have some helpful firsthand information to share with you.

Feel free to contact me at: tara@taraimanidesigns.com and/or connect with me on LinkedIn.

    Kind regards,

Not sure exactly what you're looking for but we have an equine/ag-science high school here in Lexington, KY that you might want to take a look at.  It has a pretty nice equine barn/arena as part of their facilities:

During the Aug. 4 news conference at Locust Trace AgriScience Center, Principal Anne DeMott outlined several expansions of her school's offerings, including additional staff, new programs and FFA chapters at two more middle schools, and dual credit classes with Bluegrass Community & Technical College.

It was designed by a peer firm.  Here is a link to the project on their website: Locust Trace AgriScience Farm

    Greetings Jeffrey,

I sent a separate email yesterday recommending that Saravanan consider Kentucky as a likely region where one would find equine based CTE programs.  I suggested that a couple of the more moderate sized colleges would also be worth a review.  I would appreciate it if you would offer any insight on that as well.  In particular I suggested:

Asbury University, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Morehead State University

    Regards,

    Kevin

I would suggest looking at equine related programs at Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY) and Midway College (Midway, KY).  Both of these small, private liberal arts schools are located in the heart of "horse country" and I seem to recall have established equine programs and facilities.

Other area universities (Univ of Ky, Eastern Ky Univ.) may have programs as well, but I think the community and technical college system, of which BCTC is a campus for, and the small privates are probably a better bet.

    Greetings Saravanan,

I suggest that you research equine sciences schools/facilities in Kentucky.  There are more programs there than probably any other state.  I'm not familiar with a K-12 program, however, you could look to Asbury University, Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Morehead State University,  and of course the University of Kentucky.

This would at least give you an idea of the kind of facilities and space required.  BCTC is probably closer in size to what you might be considering.

    Additionally,  a quick search yielded:

    https://www.nassauboces.org/Page/10072

    https://www.moboces.org/programs_services/pre-k-12_instructional/cte/agriculture___natural_sciences/equine___animal_science

    https://www.wilsontech.org/high-school-students/equine-studies/

I don't know how these programs compare to what you are working on.  I would probably begin with a review of the collegiate programs first.

I hope this helps get you started.

    Regards,

    Kevin
