AIA Members in 18 cities: this is our chance to lead the country in solar design! New Solar Training for Designers Coming Soon

As the cost of solar continues to drop and new exciting products raise consumer demand, the U.S. solar energy market is booming. 2016 was a record-breaking year for solar installations!  Design professionals play a crucial role in advancing the use of solar photovoltaics (PV), and a new training course is helping building designers add solar expertise to their list of qualifications. AIA is a partner on a project to provide solar photovoltaic (PV) training for licensed design professionals in select cities across the U.S – let's step forward and lead by encouraging our colleagues to attend in these cities: Washington DC, Denver, Boston, Stamford, CT, Jacksonville, FL, Orlando, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Spokane, Columbus, OH, Houston, Dallas, Albuquerque, Des Moines, Raleigh/Durham, Atlanta, Charleston, SC, Indianapolis.

This training is specially designed for architects and engineers, and HSW continuing education credits will be provided to attendees.  Designers will learn – for both new construction and remodels – the considerations for incorporating solar photovoltaics (PV) into designs, how to speak with clients about the benefits of solar PV, where to find information on the financial incentives available for solar PV, and how to differentiate themselves in the marketplace by offering solar PV to clients.

The trainings are funded by the U.S Department of Energy SunShot Initiative's Solar Training and Education for Professionals program, and the project is being led by the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP)- click here for more information and to register.

Per the AIA code of ethics "Members should maintain and advance their knowledge of the art and science of architecture, respect the body of architectural accomplishment, contribute to its growth, thoughtfully consider the social and environmental impact of their professional activities, and exercise learned and uncompromised professional judgment." It's our time to lead. Thanks for any leadership help you can lend to attend and promote these trainings.

Please help get the word out to your colleagues by forwarding this message, posting it to an events calendar, and promoting it on your local AIA chapter website.
