    Course Description:

The Advanced Energy Design Guide has been an important tool helping design professionals meet all of an owner's energy performance requirements and promote building energy efficiency in many types of projects. The series began with the 30% Guides offering 30% energy savings compared to buildings that meet the minimum energy requirements of ASHRAE/IESNA/ANSI Standard 90.1-1999. The subsequent 50% Guides offer 50% energy savings compared to Standard 90.1-2004.

The brand new Achieving Zero Energy series provides a cost-effective approach to achieve advanced levels of energy savings. The Guides offer contractors and designers the tools needed for achieving a Zero Energy Building that, on an annual basis, draws from outside resources equal or less energy than it provides using on-site renewable energy sources. This webinar will focus on the first "Zero Energy Design Guide" for K-12 school buildings, how it was created, and how designers can implement it into their practice. This Guide has been developed through the collaboration of ASHRAE, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), with support from the Department of Energy (DOE).

The partners have made all of the Advanced Energy Design Guides available for download free.
