The ICC Group A Public Comment Hearings (PCH) are taking place October 24-29 in Richmond, VA. The hearings are LIVE now and you can watch the proceedings online via the ICC webcast. Here are some resources on cdpACCESS:

    • The hearing agenda with the order of code change proposals to be debated
    • New to the ICC code development process? Download this one-page explainer (JPEG or PDF)
    • ICC voting by the numbers one-page explainer (JPEG or PDF)
    • Unofficial PCH results will be posted following the hearings but prior to the Online Governmental Consensus Vote (OGCV)

The outcomes of the votes of eligible ICC members at these hearings and the OGCV will determine portions of the content of the 2021 editions of the International Codes, including (among others) the International Building Codes (general, fire safety, and means of egress provisions), the International Residential Code (mechanical and plumbing provisions), and the International Fire Code. Those code groups not heard in Group A will be part of the Group B cycle held during <g class="gr_ gr_39 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep" id="39" data-gr-id="39">calendar</g> year 2019.

The AIA Codes Advocacy Program will distribute a voting guide (for ICC members eligible to cast their votes online during the OGCV voting period, tentatively scheduled for November 15-30) following the hearings but prior to the OGCV. This guide will focus on a small number of high-priority code change proposals.

Of special interest to members here will be the package of proposals developed by the ICC Ad Hoc Committee on Tall Wood Buildings. The debate on the Tall Wood Buildings package will begin with item G108-18 this afternoon (estimated sometime after <g class="gr_ gr_41 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Style multiReplace" id="41" data-gr-id="41">3:30pm</g>). View the April 4 Codes Network webinar on the Tall Wood committee’s proposals for further discussion.
