Who we are

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community (TAP) serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP leaders monitor the development of computer technology and its impact on architecture practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse.

This year's colloquium will focus on historic structure reports and how technology is impacting those reports. A historic structure report provides documentary, graphic, and physical information about a property's history and existing condition. Broadly recognized as an effective part of preservation planning, a historic structure report also addresses management or owner goals for the use or re-use of the property. It provides a thoughtfully considered argument for selecting the most appropriate approach to treatment, prior to the commencement of work, and outlines a scope of recommended work. Finally, it records the findings of research and investigation, as well as the processes of physical work, for future researchers.

The AIA Taliesin Colloquium at Taliesin West is sponsored and hosted by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation for the AIA Historic Resources Committee.
