Who we are

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community (TAP) serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP leaders monitor the development of computer technology and its impact on architecture practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse.

    Posted 01-02-2018 09:27 AM
Case Technologies, along with Autodesk and the Volterra-Detroit Foundation will be continuing their AIA National award-winning project to digitally reconstruct and preserve many of the historically significant architectural, archeological and artistic treasures of the ancient city of Volterra, Italy through their next hands-on workshop; April 15-28, 2018.

This workshop will provide an international educational experience in which participants will learn to use innovative reality capture and virtual reality technologies to collaboratively produce three dimensional computer models of the ancient City of Volterra, its archaeological remains and some of its treasured artwork. This workshop will provide the participants hands-on experience in using drones and cameras through photogrammetric technologies and laser scanners to capture the city and some of its treasured artworks into digital models which will be experienced through virtual reality systems.

Best of all, because of the partnership with the Volterra-Detroit Foundation, this wonderful opportunity is offered at a cost that is actually less than many domestic conferences.
