Who we are

The Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN^®) Knowledge Community develops knowledge and information to benefit architects who are engaged in, or who are interested in learning more about, custom residential practice. CRAN^® presents information and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and expertise to promote the professional development of its members via discussion forums, national symposia and conventions, publications, and local activities.

Who are We? The Elevator Pitch.

When AIANY asked me if I would help launch an exploration into establishing a local CRAN community at their Center of Architecture, here in New York, they had a lot of questions. But the one question that everyone kept dancing around is: who are custom residential architects?

So I ask you: What is the elevator pitch for who we are? I have my initial thoughts but before I share them I'd like to hear from my fellow CRAN members.

While all of us wear many hats at the same time-have any number of adjectives we could add to our identity-how are we distinguishing ourselves when we add "custom residential" to our identity as architects?

What do we do, when we provide services for custom residential commissions, which sets us apart from when we provide services for other types of commissions?

In a sentence or a short paragraph: Who are we? Please.
