The mission of the AIA Small Firm Exchange (SFx) is to advance the mutual interests of architects practicing in small firms. The objectives of the AIA SFx are three-fold:1. Advocate for small firms within the AIA and in outside organizations and agencies.2. Promote leadership in Small Firm professional development and practice; and3. Facilitate and support the local component round tables and small firm networks.

In collaboration with the nonprofit Civita Institute, this "deep dive" 10-day program is being offered once again May 6-16, 2020 and will focus on architectural/cultural preservation, sustainability, seismic innovations and modern design interventions in a series of vibrant Etruscan hill towns of central Italy. Participants will connect with local architects, engineers and citizens in exploring important preservation work and experience the architecture, art, food and wine culture of the world heritage hill towns of Assisi, Perugia, Tarquinia, Orvieto, Pienza, Cortona and Siena, in addition to Civita di Bagnoregio.
