I hope everybody's seen the flyer for the REKC spring conference in NYC "Designing the Magic".

This years conference will examine how entertainment architecture, specifically how the renovation and reconstruction of two classic theaters have been instrumental in revitalizing a critical urban district - 42nd Street, from a derelict area of porn shops and tattoo parlors back into a vital and vibrant entertainment district and international tourism draw.

Join the REKC conference May 15, 2014 to tour the New Amsterdam and Nederlander Theaters, meet some of the key people responsible for the dramatic (urbanistically and theatrically) renaissance of 42nd Street theater district.  Discuss the urban planning impact of these initiatives, how and why they were successful in revitalizing this area, and what lessons we can bring home to our communities.  As an added benefit, take advantage of pre-sale pricing for tickets to see either Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theater, or Lion King at the Neiderlander, and close the evening with a special reception to meet and talk with some of the speakers as well as theater folks in a 'wrap' party for the conference.

When you register for the day conference you will be able to add up to
two Aladdin Broadway musical tickets to your order - one ticket for the day conference attendee and one guest ticket. So bring your significant other and join us to see the first season of Broadway's new Musical Comedy Disney's Aladdin!

This new stage production is based on the 1992 Disney Movie Aladdin with songs from the Academy Award winning score. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award Winner Casey Nicholaw, composed by Tony Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tony Award winner Tim Rice with book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin. Opening on March 20, 2014, be one of the first to see this new play on Broadway!

There is limited space for the conference and show. Tickets are first-come, first-served. Day Conference Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and access to tour sites.

*Emerging Professionals are encouraged to apply for a scholarship.Vendors are encouraged to support REKC through a sponsorship that included complimentary registration.

Looking forward to reconnecting with friends and peers and seeing the insides of some really great theaters!
