For those of you heading to Denver next week and looking for some retail or entertainment programs or activities, REC has several for you!

First, the fun stuff - REC's reception is Thursday night (6:30pm) at Roth Sheppard Architects offices downtown - 1900 Wazee Street, suite 100.   Yes it costs money but what the heck, it's for a good cause!  Beside, theres booze involved, and munchies to hold you 'till dinner.  Come out and see your peers, get involved and help make a difference.  We'd love to see you there.

Now for the stuff you tell your boss about - Continuing Education - We've got three programs on the schedule this year, all really good stuff.  In order of presentation we have:

Thursday just before the reception is TH 306 Retail around the World, a great panel discussion about what retail and entertainment architects are doing around the world, how their practices differ in different cultures and locals, and what its like to do entertainment venues in Dubai or Hong Kong, retail in Japan or eastern Europe, and retail centers in Brazil and Mexico.

Friday is FR 209 Sustainability in Retail Architecture.  Sign up for this one quick, they've got over 400 signed up already.  A panel discussion about what architects and their retail clients are doing to improve the carbon footprint and reduce their impact on the world.

Saturday is SA214 Experiential Architecture.  This is my personal favorite.  One of the Peer Reviewers said about this program "... probably the most interesting and on-the cutting-edge lecture! Dr. Thomas A Albright, President of the Salk Institute Academy for Neuroscience in Architecture will join our own Michael Lingerfelt who'll talk about his experience at Disney, and Karl Backus, principal at BCJ and principal architect for the Apple stores will talk about how the brian preceives space and how space effects the brain.  They promise to keep the science content to a minimium and the architecture images big and frequent.

All together, there will be lots of opportunities to get together with friends, share experiences with peers and generally enjoy the Rocky Mountain high lights of a good time in Denver.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all out there, and hope to hear from you all on what your plans are for convention!
