Design Excellence Criteria in DBIA Awards

  • 1.  Design Excellence Criteria in DBIA Awards

    Posted 06-13-2016 03:48 PM

This years Western Region DBIA awards allocated 20 points out of a total 100 points for Design Excellence.  This inclusion not only elevated the quality of submittals and awards it helped the Design and Construction industry solidify a clearer definition for Design Excellence. The category stated:

Design Excellence can include elements such as: embracing the client’s values and transforming their organizational performance; improving the conditions of the existing site; advancing innovation in building materials and systems; providing new visual/aesthetic contributions to the community; and achieving the highest level of sustainability.

The winning submittals, as it turned out, accomplished all of these objectives at a very high level and the criteria proved to solidify the jury around what is sometimes a very subjective matter.
