Have you participated in any virtual interviews for new work and if so, how did it go? Did you set it up or the client and on what platform?

    Yes. Today.

Key; we DON'T interview. We educate, and create scarcity (play hard to get). We interview them. Turn the tables - don't get into a dog and pony show.

Short version; I listened. Offered (partial) solutions and/or listed challenges. Asked if helpful. "yes". (get them saying "yes") less than 1/2 hour - got the job.

They will not even consider talking to other "let me tell ya, let me sell ya" architects. Never once talked about how great we are, that we've been at it over 40 years, that we have international design awards... they don't care... Its ABOUT THEM.

    Hope that helps.

Our Virtual Practice was put to the test in New Zealand while there for the entire month of January...returning in early February just prior to the COVID-19 outbreak in the States.  While there, I responded to inquiries for new work, submitted proposals and executed Agreements securing projects...I was even able to kick them off successfully with my Collaborative project Teams.  In the Southern Hemisphere, I was also digitally signing and sealing the permit sets of other projects utilizing newly available, 3rd party verified software (which, I now believe, is the permit submission mode of the future).  And thus, the Big Test worked beautifully.

Yes, several in the last month.

One was on GoToMeeting and two were via Zoom.

All three were hosted by the clients who had savvy staff hosting it but the volunteer building committee members took just a little time to manipulate their software smoothly.

Everyone was patient with the process recognizing the times but also recognizing the common goal to move the process along and make progress for their Towns or groups.

We found/find Zoom to be much easier to manage and use, especially for new users.  The host's permission to allow us to screen share is very easy and our staff is nimble at having numerous screen shots or entire PowerPoint presentations read to share, with us manipulating them for the viewing interviewers.

We have also hosted several bid openings conducted by both our staff and our clients, and some were attended by over 35 bidding contractors and their subs, and they went well.  They also satisfied the standard requirement that public bids would be opened and read aloud in public.

    Good luck with your interviews.
