  • 1.  Are you using Slack?

    Posted 12-17-2018 11:08 AM

    Hello,

We are investigating the use of Slack for communicating within a Big Room for a large institutional project. We expect to have 50 team members across A/E/C/O and will be meeting in about 13 cluster groups.  We will be working in Revit, C4R, and the idea is to use Slack for quick communication between members of the clusters and between folks working in Revit.

(In 2019, we understand that AutoDesk has removed the Communicator from BIM 360.)

If you have experience, please share.

    Thank you,

    Tara

Yes, and I use for my interactions with my fellow design professional colleagues in the EntreArchitect Academy group.  I highly recommend it for group communications.  Easy to access and work within.

    Have a great day,

We use Slack and have been for more than a year. It is a very good tool to communicate quickly with multiple groups/studios and team members. We have 50 on it now.

We use Slack as our primary office internal communication tool and we love it.  We have specific channels set up for certain groups who regularly communicate, a general office wide channel, and use it for person to person communication.  We often use it to help schedule meetings by utilizing the "simple poll" feature to determine when people are most available.

We have used a slack account for a project as well.  Similarly we had specific channels for design team, OAC, certain consultants, and one-to-one communication. The only downside we found was the client used it a LOT and expected near immediate replies.  It should not be a substitute for a phone call when quick answers are required, however if expectations are understood it is a great tool.
