Benefit of a Virtual Practice: Bleisure (there's an App, Whitepaper, and Guideline for it)

There are 2 types of architects in the workforce today: 1) Those who are chained to their desks, and 2) Those who are not.

Just imagine those who are not, are probably working at a cafe overlooking interesting architecture.

The virtual architectural practice model is far more flexible than traditional practice – and allows you to do business and travel all at once. I myself embarked on a bleisure travel for 21 days in 3 cities last month that generated new business.

Business travel + leisure travel = bleisure travel. It's a hybrid that's growing in popularity as work-life boundaries blur. Today 75% of business travelers take "bleisure" trips.

The good news is, there's an App for it as well as a Whitepaper (see attached), and some guidelines that will help you incorporate it for your employee's or your own bleisure. It works wonders for business productivity and employee wellness.

I'm not sure if it's for you but you might be fortunate enough to capture a full moon right next to the Eiffel Tower (that's 130 years young on March 31st) while on bleisure travel as I have. And I'm heading to the next bleisure trip in 2 months. How about you, when will you take your bleisure travel?

Thank you for sharing. I am looking forward to this session.
I am also speaking on a similar topic that is specifically catered toward the virtual office for the custom residential architect and small practice.

CRAN: The Virtual Office for the Small Practice/Custom Residential Architect

For small firms and sole practitioners, a traditional office space isn't always the answer. Fortunately, technology now provides architects with greater flexibility in their work environments and locations.

Join us for an introduction into creating a virtual office for the small practice/custom residential architect firm. This is an opportunity to learn about the differences in practice models for virtual and semi-virtual office environments, the technology to support a firm without a centralized location, and the risks inherent in virtual models.

The speaker, who has owned a virtual office for 10 years, looks forward to sharing her real-world experience with you.

    Learning Objectives

Discover how to assess whether a virtual office will be successful given your firm's culture and financial obligations.
Learn how to implement strategies to begin the transition to a virtual office.
Explore several real-world examples that carry lessons for your firm.
Understand how to talk to employees about virtual-office strategies-or, if you're an employee, gain enough knowledge to bring virtual-office strategies to your firm's owners.

    Details are here:
See you at AIA'19 in Las Vegas!

    That's great!

What do you know about our Virtual Practice session?... and how it has been updated to cover small, medium, and large firm business transactions including risk management regardless of project type focus (private or government), since the release of our White Paper - The AIA Trust Guide to Virtual Practice, webinar, and 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial partner program?

Just imagine, my bleisure travel in a Virtual Practice allowed me to seize seeing the Notre-Dame de Paris last February, before it went up in flames today.

I remember it was a long workday, had an early start the next day, and limited time overall. Despite being tired, I trekked to see its architecture late at night. I'm glad I did.
