One thing I personally didn't hear discussed in the conference was the concern for suicidal inmates in detention environments. From youth to adults, it's a common theme among my clients concerns. Has anyone else dealt with these issues and if so, how?

Anti-suicide design was one of the topics that I proposed for this conference that was rejected. I have written and testified extensively on this topic. There are many subtle features that have to be considered, such as the sprinklers, the bed posts, the water fountain, the door hinges, the light switches, the power outlet plug, and much more. The ventilation grilles are the obvious choice, but the inmates have hung themselves from the food pass throughs. If I can be of any assistance please feel free to contact me.
