Blaine,
If you are not familiar with them, the
Preservation Briefs of the National Parks Service are a good initial resource for many technical preservation issues. They can be found at the link attached to the highlighted section above. In particular for you is
Brief 43: The Preparation and Use of Historic Structures Reports. A true historic structures report is typically a substantial undertaking. If it is beyond the scope needed or available to you, this brief can certainly help you identify components you would want to include in your plan. The other briefs can provide you with guidance on how to approach the proper preservation and maintenance on many other important building components and systems.
Hope this helps. Good luck1

Subject: Historic Preservation Plans
I have posted this question on the Saving Places forum, but would like to get some feedback from architects.
I have been asked by a developer here in Southern Idaho to create a Historic Preservation Plan for a couple of older farm buildings.
One is a bungalow cottage, and the other is old "ice house" used for storage.
Are there any resources, or even templates that I could look at to create a plan?
I have not done one before, but looking forward to it.
Thanks
