A very sad loss indeed. I didn't get to work with Bill for long, but his insight was great and his attitude superb. May he live on in all the buildings and lives he touched.

| Dr. William Seale, whose contributions to the programs and publications of the White House Historical Association for more than forty years were instrumental in shaping the Association's study and dissemination of White House history, passed away on November 21, 2019, following a long illness. |
William Seale was a great resource -- and friend -- to many Historic Resource Committee members, as we struggled to really understand the history behind the great buildings we were entrusted to restore. He had an uncanny way of making the people who designed, built and lived/worked in the buildings come alive. It was as if he actually knew them! His assistance to our team in renovating several state capitols, a state supreme court and a number of historic county courthouses gave depth of understanding to our work. His expertise was couched in a sort of 'aw-shucks' attitude that made him very approachable, and a lot of fun. Bill will be missed.
