The mission of the Historic Resources Committee (HRC) is to identify, understand, and preserve architectural heritage, both nationally and internationally. HRC is engaged in promoting the role of the historic architect within the profession through the development of information and knowledge among members, allied professional organizations, and the public.

    Greetings and Happy New Year.

    Please join our sister chapter, APTNE (Northeast), for this special event as we reflect on 2020 and look to the future. Several national and regional leaders in the field of historic preservation will answer the question "How will the Future of Historic Preservation change as a result of COVID-19?" This will be followed by a lively, interactive discussion with the speakers and participants.

    The presentations will be made by speakers who represent a variety of disciplines in the field of Historic Preservation and who bring a regional perspectives from the states served by the Association for Preservation Technology Northeast Chapter. Topics such as healthy buildings, economic recovery and project funding, changing dynamics in the built environment, and challenges and opportunities associated with remote work will be addressed.

    Thank you for posting!  I plan to be there.

    I also thought the article below from the San Francisco Chronicle is worth sharing with historic preservation advocates here.  I have an interest in preservation of modern Brutalist buildings and am alarmed by the executive order and recent RFP's for courthouse buildings in Florida and Alabama that have used the same language.  As he departs from government Mr. Trump has succeeded in politicizing his aggressive anti-brutalism.  While I respect the work of the National Civic Art Society, I am appalled by the role that it has played in fueling yet another battlefield in the culture wars (https://www.civicart.org/americans-preferred-architecture-for-federal-buildings).
