I like to use Trex products.  I used them on our own Historic House porch and they live forever.!

For our historic work we've been using mahogany or sapeli. Our residential group has been using Trex for our high end beach houses.

It's a tricky issue. Some synthetics, especially composites, have proved over time to be problematic -- warping, etc -- and in any event are not cheap. Also consider how you will handle maintenance down the road; do synthetics take paint? Offshore woods from Amazon and Africa have demonstrated performance, but today there's environmental baggage to factor in. Some projects are opting for acetylated (acetic acid infused) wood for porch railings, but I'm not up on it's application for decking. Hope this helps -G

We used a composite decking material called Fiberon on a past historic residential rehabilitation project (the deck was not original to the home).  The contractor introduced us to the product and said he had installed it on a dock in the San Diego harbor a few years back and it still looked new.  We ordered samples and ended up using Symmetry in Warm Sienna.  Overall, it is not immediately obvious it is a composite material, but upon closer inspection, it's noticeable.  In general, the darker samples looked more realistic.  And we found the Symmetry line to have the closest resemblance to natural straight grain lumber.  The product lines with more grain movement looked less real.  https://www.fiberondecking.com/

You might look at thermo-treated or heat treated woods.   These are rot resistant and take paint well.

    Best regards.

We have used both wood and composite t&g porch flooring in our residential work over the last two decades--the choice for each project made depending upon the historic nature of the work, client aesthetic preferences and budgets.  Some of the early composites (i.e., TenduraPlank) have not held up well in our climate here in the NE, but so far our experiences with Azek "Porch" have been very good, in terms of installation, durability, maintenance, etc.  The material now comes in four or five different (integral) colors, one of which closely approximates the typical "gray enamel" paint color used here in eastern PA, and is dimensioned to match a traditional t&g porch floor board.  This is a key feature, as it can then be cut square at the ends and left exposed, just as traditional porch floors are detailed in our region. It does have slightly eased edges and a wood grain pattern, which is aesthetically objectionable to us, but our clients have told us it helps greatly with slip resistance.  It has worn like iron for clients who own dogs and has resisted red-wine stains--or so we have been told!
If your project is not under tight historic review restrictions, and you are looking for something more durable than wood, it is definitely worth a closer look.  That said, our HC has approved it for use on locally listed projects.
Also, be sure to closely follow Azek's technical recommendations for individual board gapping, as well as those requirements related to the on-center spacing of the supporting structure.
Finally, I will note that Azek was recently purchased by TimberTech and we have not had an opportunity to spec the product since that change, but order some samples and see for yourself!
    Best of luck.

PS. I do wonder how the thermal treated wood products would hold up as porch flooring.  They do take paint very well and we have used them for exterior siding and were pleased with the results, but each material has its applications--interesting suggestion!

Douglas Fir was the original material used for wood porch and is readily available - google "douglas fir porch flooring". If painted and maintained it can last decades.  I have also used material from advantage lumber.com, Ipe and Cumaru wood sustainably harvested.  Composites like Timbertech and Trex are good choices for maintenance free materials and PVC products take paint really well but have a high coefficient of expansion and need support 12" on center.  Also the composites and PVCs contribute to green house gas production which may be a major consideration.   Good luck
