It is with great sadness that I share an email that was sent to me regarding Randy Biallas, FAIA.
Randy Biallas passed away on August 15, 2018, during the night. Randy slipped away peacefully after an extended period of illness. Recently, Randy had learned that he could not expect his health to improve. He made the decision to not receive further treatment and to begin hospice care.
Randy was the NPS Chief Historical Architect, and the WASO Chief of the Park Historic Structures and Cultural Landscapes Division. He retired in March, 2017 after a distinguished career with NPS spanning 37 years. Among his many honors, Randy received the Department of Interior Distinguished Service Award, was invested in The College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, was made a Fellow in the Association for Preservation Technology, and was an Honorary Member of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
He will be missed as a treasured mentor, supervisor and friend. NPS will share more information as it becomes available.
Best Regards
