    To AIA Friends;

    We all spend a great deal of time searching for esthetic excellence. We are also sensitive to the need for accessibility.

    My dilemma is that my site engineer has specified a series of ugly accessibility signage near the front of the building.

    Is there a manufacturer who produces accessibility signage where there are options for supports, mountings and signage materials?

    Joel,
    I'm sympathetic and have always had to have them custom made. They do not have to be frightfully expensive, but they will naturally be more costly than the green steel post and blue 16-gauge metal plate.

    Would it be possible to work with a local metalsmith or artisan rather than attempt to find something pre-made that doesn't quite fit the space?

    I would work with a local artisan to get something that you really want.
    You may pay a little more, but you will probably be happier in the end.
