    Dear colleagues,

The AIA COD most recently visited Columbus, Indiana about 5 years ago, if memory serves me. Our legendary portfolio is still standing strong and we've added some fantastic projects to the roster. Things have continued to change for our little town and 2017 has been action packed so far:

Indiana University recently announced a Masters of Architecture program

Our town had a starring role in a little movie you may have caught at Sundance

Exhibit Columbus, an annual exploration of art, design and community, has launched their inaugural year. The team is really challenging today's designers (architects, artists, students, furniture and graphic designers) to think about place and create new ideas to transform the community. After an extremely successful design symposium last Fall, they are preparing for a grand opening of August 25th (this party will be great!) and it's all open through November. Great design is everywhere – Come see it through the lens of the next generation of designers.

Through all this change, I keep thinking about the COD events that I've had the pleasure to attend and how much the people I've met there would love all of this great design. If you are able to visit Columbus this Fall, please do – The inaugural exhibit will be something special. Otherwise, the movie will just have to do.

    Cheers and safe travels,

    Rachel

I didn't have the privilege of going to Columbus, Indiana, myself on the COD trip, but I know that I missed a memorable experience!  Please click on the link below for a featured article in Dwell Magazine on Columbus.  It was published in their July/August edition.  The article raises awareness of this city as an architectural destination.

Yolanda - thank you for sharing the article(s) on Columbus, Indiana.  I will never forget the 4th year Architecture weekend road trip to explore the built designs of world top architects with my UD colleagues. It was the first time that I 'felt religion' from a space due to Saarinen's masterful use of light.  I even shed a tear or two.
I'm quite surprised though, that there has not been another philanthropist (or politician) to replicate this eternal gesture...that I know of.
