Bio

I am a licensed architect having managed or technically developed a variety of building projects from 500,000 s.f. offices to performing arts centers to health care. I am also trained as a structural engineer helping to add an additional level of understanding my project problem solving abilities.

I love solving the problem. It's especially good when the solution has a practical application and can been seen and analyzed in use. Further knowledge can be gathered from this and used in the formulation of the next solution.

My research interests are based in efficiency, particularly in how sustainability is a specialized form of efficiency. Specifically, I am interested in how building materials and systems may be reused rather than recycled at the end of a building's life, thereby saving the energy required to recycle the components. Reuse is most often undertaken as an adaptive change to building programming but my focus is on component reuse in other building projects.

Specialties: Project collaboration, consultant coordination, exterior envelope design, moisture management in buildings
