The Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE) is a large and active group of architects and allied professionals concerned with the quality and design of all types of educational, cultural, and recreational facilities. While a large portion of our members practice in the K-12 and post-secondary education markets, we look to serve the needs of those in the entire pre-K to 99 markets. CAE identifies national educational facility issues critical to architects and works to strengthen relationships with allied organizations, client groups, and the public. On behalf of CAE, we encourage all to participate in our international discourse by applying to serve on the 5-person advisory group.

The American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Education is currently seeking statements of qualifications from individuals who are interested in serving on the five (5)-member Advisory Group (AG). We currently have one (1) open position that would begin in January 2015.
Qualifications Statements should include the following information:
- Letter or Statement of Interest.
- Professional Accomplishments (include contribution to, and attendance at AIA-CAE events,
subcommittee work, CAE awards, etc.). - Skills (include curriculum vitae outlining learning environment design, awards, publications, speaking events, knowledge sharing; what are the particular skills that you would bring to the committee that complement the existing AG).
- Vision (what would you like to accomplish during your appointment as an AG member)
- AIA members engaged in the design of learning environments including early learning, K-12, higher education, corporate and other learning places are encouraged to apply.
- Commitment (include a statement of commitment from a leader in your firm that demonstrates your firm's commitment to supporting your involvement as an AG member).
Duties and Expectations: - Attend the two bi-annual CAE conferences. Conferences are typically held in the continental United States with an international conference every four to six years.
- AG members will be asked to present knowledge at associated organizational events, typically one to two times a year. Travel for these events may or may not be reimbursed.
- Participate in monthly coordination conference calls, assist with conference planning and general administrative functions of the CAE.
- Attend the annual Knowledge Leadership Assembly. Travel will be partially reimbursed. ( The KLA provides an opportunity for Knowledge Community Leaders, Board Knowledge Community Representatives, the Council of Architectural Component Executives, and AIA Staff to network, share knowledge and best practices, and build coalitions over the course of three days.)
- Observe the CAE Design Awards jury in 2015 and serve as jury chair in 2016.
