Bio

Paul Adamson, FAIA, is a San Francisco-based architect, writer, preservation advocate and educator. Active in the San Francisco AIA Chapter, as 2022 Board President, Housing Committee Chair and Fellowship Committee member. His design work includes high-rise hotels, landmark restoration-reuse projects and student life facilities. He is the author of Eichler: Modernism Builds the American Dream, and has written numerous articles for journals and periodicals focusing on mid-century modernism residential architecture and planning. As a founding member of docomomo_noca, the Northern California working party of the DoCoMoMo, International (documentation and conservation of the modern movement), he has successfully advocated for recognition of mid-century modern architecture, in California, and was instrumental in the naming of two Eichler subdivisions to the National Register of Historic Places. Adamson has taught housing design and professional practice at the Academy of Art University, in San Francisco.
