Will you be attending the AIA's Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, June 5 at AIA Conference on Architecture in Las Vegas? If you are, and you're a voting delegate from your AIA Chapter, we are looking for your support. My colleagues (Carl Elefante, Betsy del Monte, Marsha Maytum, Mary Ann Lazarus) and I have submitted a floor Resolution recommending that the AIA Board take urgent and sustained climate action. We are looking for votes in favor of this Resolution . . . as well as folks who would be willing and prepared to speak in support. If you will be attending the Business Meeting and would like to contribute to this cause - or know someone you could nominate - please reply and I will send more information. Many thanks,Mike
Thanks, everyone, for your responses to my post. Yes, the intent of this Resolution is to provide a framework for the AIA to prioritize and support urgent climate action in order to exponentially accelerate the "decarbonization" of buildings, the building sector, and the built environment. The action items proposed by the Resolution include compelling the AIA to create a multi-year strategy to engaging the full AIA Membership, the clients and communities we serve, federal, state and local policy makers and governing bodies, other professional organizations and affiliates, and the general public in education, practice, advocacy, and outreach on climate action.
