Dear Center for Civic Leadership Community Member:

On behalf of the AIA Center for Civic Leadership (CCL), we would like to invite you to a very unique program at this year's Pre-Convention Wednesday, June 19.  From 1:00 - 5:30 p.m..  The CCL is inviting all levels of AIA and AIAS membership to this program, from Fellows to architecture students, who have participated in a national, regional, or local component leadership program, or are actively involved in topics of leadership and civic engagement.  In this two-part, 3-hour session, participants will have an opportunity to meet with CCL members, discuss leadership programs across the country, and receive hands-on training to speak about encouraging their peers to develop their own leadership plan.

In the first part of the session, alumni from leadership programs from across the country will gather to share experiences and best practices with each other to help provide input to the CCL in developing potential leadership program guidelines for AIA components.  As one of the major goals of the CCL (and AIA national leaders), discussions will be key in the creation of a Leadership Institute initiative, now in collaboration with emerging professionals and the AIA Strategic Alliances + Initiatives.

The second part of the session will focus on how AIA members can assist their architectural colleagues to expand their leadership horizons through the 'Living Your Life as a Leader' resource.  Created to serve as an initial assessment tool and reference as one evolves as a leader in various roles, this is the first opportunity the resource will be shared with AIA membership to help empower new leaders, promote roles not previously recognized, and advocate opportunities for architects to become better leaders in their communities, their professional lives, and in academia.

The CCL sincerely hopes that you can join us on the day before Convention starts so that we can move forward with the development of leadership program efforts, as well as expand our outreach of how architects can live their life as a leader.

Hope to see you in June!
