Fellow Committee on Design Members,
Amazing changes have occurred over the course of two months! We are living in unprecedented times with the global COVID-19 pandemic, and the safety and wellness of our members is of utmost importance. We hope you and your families are staying healthy and that your architectural practices have not been impacted too much.
In January, I shared with you the COD’s plans for two exciting 2020 conferences—summer in Denver and fall in Singapore. Following national AIA’s lead to postpone A’20 in Los Angeles, the Advisory Board of the COD met (virtually) and voted to postpone Denver, which was scheduled for June 25-28, 2020. They also voted to extend my role as chair for another year which will hopefully enable us to implement our current plans. Mark your calendars for May 13-16, 2021, for the COD conference: Trading Posts: The Confluence of Architecture in Denver, Colorado. We have prepared a wonderful program that we are excited to share with you. We will know more about Singapore in early summer.
In the meantime, the Advisory Group is considering several web-based events to continue the promotion of design excellence among our members and the broader design community. We will be in touch soon to share those ideas with you, and if you have ideas of your own, please reach out and let me know.
Until then, be safe and take very good care,
Curt Fentress, Chair
