The AAJ Research Committee has made great strides in bringing attention to the importance and
benefits of evidence-based design. The committee is working on several projects, all that will benefit justice architecture in unique ways. An update from the Research Committee has been published in the first quarter 2013 AAJ journal.

I had the pleasure of working with the research committee on one project, which entailed creating a searchable database of Justice Facilities Review projects from the year 2000-2012. I believe this project will be incredibly useful to justice architects for future projects and I look forward to its publication. Based on this experience, I can speak first-hand to the importance of the work spearheaded by the Research Committee.
