The Construction Specifications Institute is working with a number of federal agencies to develop a credential related to creating and using specifications on government projects. As a former chair of the Public Architects Committee and CSI President-elect, I invite you to take the survey and help us validate the Body of Knowledge. There is a one page summary of the program available for you to download for more information.

2014 CSI GSP Body of Knowledge Survey

We need your expertise and experience! You are invited to participate in a study, created by CSI in conjunction with government design and construction agencies, for development of education and certification for a "Government Specifications Professional (GSP)". The purpose of this study is to identify the knowledge and skills that are important for construction professionals working on government projects as private practice A/E practitioners, or in government agencies as specifiers, engineers, architects or contracting officers.

The study will reflect knowledge and skills that are applicable to the various phases of the government's project delivery process. It will encompass aspects of design, procurement and construction activities common to various levels of government, including municipal, state, and federal, or any agency of government, such as US Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, General Services Administration, or state construction departments administering construction projects under government regulations, in particular the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The resulting education and credential will help bridge the "gap" between private sector design and construction concepts and government procurement of design and construction services.

The survey is administered by International Credentialing Associates (ICA), a provider of comprehensive test development and research services.  It will take approximately 25 minutes to finish and can be saved and completed in multiple sessions.

Your completed survey should be submitted by Friday, September 19, 2014 (end of day U.S. Eastern Time).
