03-09-2018 01:03 PM

This webinar is sponsored by the Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) on April 10, 2018 from 2–3pm ET. Earn 1.0 AIA LU/HSW.

Hospital noise is a top complaint of patients, staff, and visitors. Concerns are rising over the host of negative psychological and physiological occupant outcomes that have been linked to poor healthcare soundscapes. Coupled with the threat of decrease of federal compensation through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys, hospitals have been developing and implementing noise control programs. This webinar will summarize what we know about noise in hospitals from recent research, the potential health effects on occupants, and strategies for improving soundscapes.

  1. Know how we characterize noise in buildings
  2. Understand how sounds affect staff in hospitals
