    Dear members,

The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health (AAH) is now accepting nominations for our Board membership.

Candidates for Board membership will have demonstrated a commitment to the AAH over an extended period and should, desirably, have further demonstrated that commitment through leadership of a committee, task force, or other position. In addition to healthcare architects, candidates may include AAH members who have "non-traditional" roles in the industry or with provider organizations.

Board members are typically named to a 3-year term, with a maximum of 2 (two) 3-year terms. Candidates who are subsequently elected president of the Academy will serve a longer term. New board terms will commence on January 1, 2019.

If you are interested in nominating a candidate (including yourself), please provide the following information:

    • Candidate's name, email, phone number and mailing address
    • Confirmation that s/he is willing to serve on the board
    • Name of firm or institution that the candidate is associated with, as applicable
    • Candidate's past involvement with the AIA and AAH, either local or national
    • A paragraph providing a bio, some information on her/his past and/or current involvement with the AAH and other organizations, and years of experience in healthcare design.

Nominations must be received no later than May 10 to be considered. Please submit your nomination materials to aah@aia.org.

Final call for nominations! If you're interested in nominating a candidate, including yourself to join our Board, please submit your materials to aah@aia.org by next Friday, May 18. Board members are typically named to a 3-year term, with a maximum of 2 (two) 3-year terms. Candidates who are subsequently elected president of the Academy will serve a longer term. New board terms will commence on January 1, 2019.

The Academy Board is a strategic and fiduciary oversight body. It creates, evolves and supports the strategies beneficial to Academy members. Each board member is assigned a group of committees to liaison with, to ensure that the Academy's committees execute the strategies set by the Board. At a minimum, board members are expected to:

    • Participate in all monthly board calls, except for absences excused by the President
    • Participate in Academy activities, at conferences and elsewhere, as required (there are three multi-day conferences annually, each with a full-day board workshop)
    • Maintain strategic oversight of committees assigned to them, including (as necessary) recruiting committee chairs
    • Participate in fundraising efforts by soliciting sponsorships to support its programs
    • Adhere to AIA policies
