A little over a year ago, the AIA/AAH Research Initiatives Committee initiated an effort (in concert with Clemson University's Architecture + Health Graduate Studies Program) to provide a CASE STUDY format for architects and their clients to share with the Industry some Best Practice "rules of thumbs" and "benchmarking" from their award winning projects. In order to initiate this effort we started with a Pilot Study Project - the 2013 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award recipient for the UCLA Outpatient Surgery and Cancer Center Project in Santa Monica, CA. This past November, at the Healthcare Design Conference (HCD 2016) in Houston, we presented an additional six (6) case studies that were generated from six of the seven 2016 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award recipients. Unfortunately, the seventh recipient would not allow publication of their floor plans or concept diagrams, so we were unable to create a case study for that particular project.

We are proud to announce that the new AIA/AAH CASE STUDY Library is now 'open for business.' It includes the UCLA Pilot Study Project and the six 2016 Design Award recipients. We are in the process of obtaining approvals from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 AIA/AAH Design Award recipients and hope to be adding over two dozen more case studies to the library by the end of the year.

Please check out the current case studies in the library and provide us with your feedback and suggestions. We appreciate it!
