Welcome to 2018 and this first edition of the Academy Update Newsletter! While the bears may have been hibernating this winter, the Communications Committee has been hard at work planning for this year’s social media, quarterly updates and other communication activities. Our board liaison, and new member of the AAH Board this year, is J. Todd Robinson; welcome Todd! The entire committee is looking forward to your leadership and partnership to bring relevant, timely and valuable information to all AAH Knowledge Community Members. This year’s President, Vincent DellaDonna, has also been busy the past few months welcoming new board members and committee chairs, and furthering the strategic plan, making certain the AAH members are well-connected, well-educated and visible in the healthcare industry. Read more about Vinnie’s vision for 2018 below in the President’s message below.

This month also marks the first major conference for the year, the ASHE PDC Summit, March 25-28, 2018. Both the AAH and ACHA are partners with ASHE and the American Hospital Association (AHA) to bring this conference to the health care industry. We highly recommend that you consider attending this year; it’s not only in one of the coolest cities, Nashville, but with over 70 educational sessions, you can potentially add over 20 contact hours to your education portfolio, many of which are presented by our AAH esteemed members. This year’s keynote session on Monday morning, “Farsighted: Making Creative Decisions in an Uncertain World,” by Steven Johnson will most definitely set the stage for “setting the tempo” for unknown changes in the health care industry. See you in Nashville!

Finally, the Communications Committee will once again be consistently engaged in social media this year, with the continued efforts of many of our members posting on LinkedIn and Twitter. We are also attempting to make certain that the KnowledgeNet and Digest are constantly updated with timely information for you as members. If at any time you have questions, comments or wish to engage with any of our committee members, please feel free to reach out to me at aah@aia.org. I look forward to a prosperous and engaging 2018!

Yours in health,
