DESCRIPTION:

Exploring how art in wellness has grown over the decades and the ability it has to change patient’s health.  Moving art to the forefront of the designing process can significantly improve the end product.  In this presentation you will hear about the history, research, obstacles and next steps to making art an important part of the built environment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After participating in this webinar attendees will:

  1. Understand the history of art in healthcare and how it has evolved
  2. Recognize art’s impact on evidence-based design solutions leading to healthier outcomes for patients.
  3. Learn how the different variables, like type and placement, of art, influence benefits not only to patients but to other parts of a healthcare team.
  4. Explore the steps needed to integrate art into the wellness built-environment by looking at several examples and hearing some post occupancy results.

IDEAL AUDIENCE: This session is part of the OTB “Outside the Box” Series by the Academy of Architecture for Health.  The web-based 60-minute seminars sessions provide to a broad audience, perspectives on healthcare, community health, environmental and design issues outside the customary domain of healthcare design practice.
