Who we are

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community (TAP) serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP leaders monitor the development of computer technology and its impact on architecture practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse.

  • 1.  Insurance Mandated Design

I bring this up because I once worked in an industry that was involved with the construction of structures, but did not have government mandated "building" codes".There were "codes or rules" which these structures were constructed, but they were developed by an organization composed of the builders, designers, owners, government (as a participant, not in a regulatory capacity) and the insurance industry. All projects were reviewed by this organization and they then provided oversight personnel while the structures were under construction.

This has worked well for over the decades and I thought, as a number of my colegues also that it might work for building construction.
