Bio

My career has combined more traditional office practice in architecture firms - with emphasis on preservation architecture - and historic preservation consulting. Although I have not lost interest in architectural design and practice, for over ten years, as owner of Thomas Street History Services, I have primarily worked on preservation planning projects, mainly in Seattle. Clients have included public entities, such as the City of Seattle, as well as neighborhood groups. During a good portion of this time, I have also served on the Pike Place Market Historical Commission. I have a long interest in urban history and design, as well as sustainable architecture. More recently, I have spent additional time, adding to my knowledge of sustainable design. I am especially interested in the intersection of sustainable design strategies and historic preservation.
