2016 Committee Nominations - International Practice Committee Openings

  • 1.  2016 Committee Nominations - International Practice Committee Openings

    Posted 08-31-2015 05:44 PM

    We are seeking nominations for members to serve on AIA national committees!  Opportunities for the International Practice Committee are detailed below:

    ~~~
    The AIA International Practice Committee (IPC) is now soliciting applications for 2016 appointments to the committee's Advisory Group (AG).  All IPC members are encouraged to consider this opportunity to serve in a leadership capacity.
    The International Practice Committee is a group of architects and allied professionals involved and/or interested in international practice.  The International Practice Committee Advisory Group explores and monitors global practice and policy issues to be addressed by the President, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors.  The committee focuses on facilitating members' practice in global markets, identifying and developing practice resources, and providing an active network of architects engaged in international practice.  The committee serves all members by engaging in the global architecture community to advance the highest international standards of education, training and practice.
    Open positions:
    - Vice Chair - 3 year term (Vice Chair, Chair, Past Chair - 1 year each)
    - Trade Issues Member - 2 year term (focused on trade and market access issues faced by AIA members)
    - Education/Programs member - 2 year term (focused on continuing education and programming opportunities)
    New members are appointed to the IPCAG each year, to replace members completing their service.  This appointment is to commence in January 2016.   Appointments are renewed annually by the president of the AIA.  AG members are expected to participate in the monthly conference calls, IPC-sponsored conferences, symposia, and workshops, and the AIA National Convention.
    ~~~

    This year, the nomination process has been moved online.

    When a member clicks on the link, he/she will be asked to log in to the members' side of AIA.org (using, for example, the same login and password used for CES). They will then see a screen listing all of the AIA national committees with openings in 2016. A click on the committee name will lead to a description of the committee's charge.

    Members will be required to submit a resume and a letter of interest for each committee application. The nomination process closes at 5:00 PM EST on Thursday, October 15; after that, the link will no longer be active. Appointments will be made by the end of 2015. Please note that applicants must be Architect or Associate members; the link will not work otherwise.

    There are many other opportunities for national service not included here: awards, juries, etc. For those specific appointments, separate calls for nominations are sent at certain times of the year; we will make sure you are aware of those opportunities as they arise.

    Click here to begin the process. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call or email Pam Day, Hon. AIA (202-626-7305, pday@aia.org).
