    Director of Design and Engineering

     

     

    The previously posted Director of Design and Engineering position was revised and is now re-posted with a new application deadline of Friday, February 6th, 2015. 

     OBO announces an opening for the Director of the Office of Design and Engineering. The Director of Design and Engineering is a key member of OBO's senior staff, providing leadership, analysis, guidance, technical direction, and management for the coordination of projects, programs, and policies related to design and engineering.

     

    The incumbent serves as the top technical and management expert in the engineering and design of embassies and consulates.  He/she is responsible for providing highly specialized professional design and construction expertise, counsel, and advice to the OBO Director regarding the design and engineering requirements for new and existing facilities at more than 250 posts overseas.  Additional responsibilities include supervising and managing the performance of a large in-house staff comprised of professional architects and engineers.

     

    OBO directs the worldwide overseas building program for the Department of State and sets worldwide priorities for the design, construction, acquisition, maintenance, use, and sale of real properties and the use of sales proceeds. OBO's mission is to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities that represent the U.S. government to the host nation and support our staff in the achievement of U.S. foreign policy objectives.  These facilities should represent U.S. values and the best in U.S. architecture, engineering, technology, sustainability, art, culture, and construction execution.
