Has any member of the AIA taken a historical architectural travel to Cuba? For educational purposes and general knowledge?  If so, what are the requirments to get on the ferry going there?  Thanks.

There is a retired architect, Robert Mayers, who leads architectural tours to Cuba. I went with one of his groups several years ago and we flew directly to Havana from New York City. It was a sensational trip. Email me directly if you are interested and i will send you his address.

    Robert,

I know several people that have gone to Cuba over the years through educational tours. I am not aware of any specific requirements other than adhering to the terms of the license issued by the State Department through their people-to-people contact programs to the organization sponsoring the tour (i.e.: uncle Sam doesn't want you to go solo, nor that you give your dollars to the Cuban government). Docomomo_US is currently advertising a tour for October 2015 (click here). Best of luck,

    Angel
