Enthusiasm
When we're sitting at our desks each day and dealing with the daily tasks that our projects require, we can easily become trapped by our paperwork, emails and deadlines. It's worth taking a couple of days off to attend one of these seminars. When you surround yourself with people who are passionate about the same topics that you are, it becomes contagious and you're quickly reinvigorated with the enthusiasm for our profession that we all had while in school

This morning's seminars started off with a keynote address by Doug Patt, he's the author of "How To Architect". His videos can be found on youtube.com and I'm including a link to one he shared with us today called "Architects Do It Better". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKC3z7uLpo4

He reminded all of us that there are ways that we can utilize our talents to increase our opportunities. His enthusiasm started the morning off right and it continued with a panel discussion which morphed into a great question and answer session with several members in the audience.

And after we all got a shot of enthusiasm from our peers, we loaded into a couple of buses to do what we love to do most...look at buildings! It was great to see some examples of architect-designed homes and actually experience the space and materials. The homes we visited were just that...homes, owned by real people. It's my belief to respect someone's most personal space so I won't be posting any photos of their homes online.  That's just one more reason why next year's symposium should be on your to-do list - there's certainly nothing like experiencing a space in person!

I'm expecting tomorrow to be another great day of enthusiasm inducing sessions, unless everyone's starting to get a bit tired but I don't see this great group of people slowing down too soon!
