Bio

In 2013, Lee Solomon became a member of the AIA Public Architect Knowledge Advisory Group and is now the 2018 Chair.  For over twenty seven years, Lee has been a Public Service Architect. Currently Lee works for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation overseeing the design and construction of the Penn and Fountain State Park. Previously held positions include the NYC Housing Authority providing Capital Planning for over $1.5 billion in rehabilitation projects with oversight of Cost Estimating, Needs Assessment and Scheduling teams; and at the NYC Office of the Mayor, Office of Management and Budget, provided Value Management Workshops for public projects totaling over $3.9 billion in capital construction costs and achieving over $274 million in accepted cost savings, yielding an average cost reduction of over 7%. Prior to these posts, Lee served at The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York overseeing the Fashion Institute of Technology campus capital portfolio of new construction and renovation projects. Her first Public Sector assignment was at The NYC School Construction Authority managing scoping, design and construction management for school capital construction projects throughout the five Boroughs.

For almost a dozen years, Lee worked in the Private Sector heading up her own NYC design firm and also managing projects for several local Architectural Firms. During this time, she pursued serving as an Educator in Adjunct Faculty member positions for various local design colleges including the Fashion Institute of Technology, the School of Visual Arts, the New Jersey City University and the NYC College of Technology. Lee’s certifications include the LEED AP BD+C. Lee received her Master of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
