A professional with 35+ years experience in design & construction, my strengths include project & quality program development & implementation, ISO-9001 compliant technology solutions that are efficient, innovative & integrated, & a consultative approach to leadership in often complex work structures.
I am committed to equipping & training teams with the best tools available, leading to continuous improvement of the built environment & a shared pride in our accomplishments.
I am a lifelong learner & teacher passionate about design, construction & quality. Active in the American Society for Quality (ASQ) as an Executive Board Member of the Design & Construction Division, I have spoken at several ASQ conferences on quality-related subjects. Closer to home, I teach Construction Contract Administration to Intern Architects in British Columbia. I have spoken at more than 50 national & international conferences. I founded the LinkedIn group "New Quality Manager" 4 years ago - it currently has more than 8,000 members. I established a LinkedIn quality subgroup to crowd source additional content supporting the proposed Certified Construction Quality Manager (CCQM) certification. And I recently established another LinkedIn group called "An Architect's Guide" to foster better communication between designers & builders.
I am a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia & an International Associate of the American Institute of Architects. I am BC's first accredited Building Envelope Professional, a Certified Professional (building code specialist) & a LEED Accredited Professional.
I am personally active in several LinkedIn groups. Please note that nothing I say represents the specific policies, procedures or professional practices of any design or construction professional body, my ten employers, five companies or two business partners since university.
