Mr. Amato is a Principal and Western Region Healthcare Market Leader for Cannon Design.
A board-certified healthcare architect with over 23 years of experience in healthcare planning and design, he possesses expertise in master planning, performance programming, medical planning and design. As part of Cannon Design’ national health science practice steering committee he provides healthcare front-end visioning and helps advance research and development towards "Next" Healthcare Practices. He also works closely with the Western Region leaders in marketing and client development to pursue opportunities in the U.S. and overseas.
Mr. Amato has recently provided services for planning and design of the new UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center, Cedars Sinai Medical Center Women’s and Simulation Research Centers and Samsung International Hospital.
Mr. Amato has presented at medical conferences, including RSNA (Radiology Society of North America) in Chicago and CARS (Computer Assisted Radiology & Surgery) in Berlin, Germany and Geneva, Switzerland. He was the project director and principal planner for the UCLA team that pioneered designs for digital radiology environments. His team was awarded Cum Laude Awards at RSNA, and the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) and his work has been extensively published in several medical and trade publications.
He serves as chairman of the American College of Healthcare Architects Certificate Holders Committee and as co-chairman of the AIA Los Angeles Committee for Healthcare Architecture
