Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) have been installed on over 1 million buildings in North America over the last 45 years representing over 1 billion square feet of application. As a low maintenance cladding, EIFS can require periodic cleaning, color coating and general overall inspection related to sealant joint performance and EIFS surface integrity. This program examines an EIFS cladding from a stand point of definition, composition, installation and inherent detailing as well as outlines the steps involved in adopting an EIFS cladding Renewal Program such as inspection, cleaning, sealant replacement, surface repair and coating / overcladding all focused toward maintaining EIFS clad envelope performance for the life of the building.
