Structures for Inclusion 15

Description:

The fifteenth Structures for Inclusion (SFI) Conference will be held April 11 and 12, 2015, in Detroit, Michigan, and will be hosted by Lawrence Technological University (LTU). The annual conference will feature the best public interest design from around the globe, including the 2015 SEED Award winners.

For fifteen years, the purpose of the SFI conference has been to bring together and share the best ideas and practices that are reaching those currently un-served by architecture.

Bringing this conference to Detroit in April 2015 is quite fitting given Detroit’s position at a historic crossroad. “Resilience of Mind, Body and Spirit” will be the theme of SFI 15. Projects from Detroit and other resilient cities in search of a new kind of post-industrial world order.

Fifth Annual SEED Awards for Excellence in Public Interest Design
Design Corps and the Social Economic Environmental Design (SEED) Network—in conjunction with Lawrence Technological University—are pleased to announce the Fifth Annual SEED Awards. Recognizing excellence in social, economic, and environmental design, the SEED Awards represent the confluence of forces needed to create truly sustainable projects and change in the world.

Six projects will be selected through a competitive jury process. Winning projects will receive a $1,000 honorarium and an all-expense-paid trip for one team representative to present at the international Structures for Inclusion 15 conference.

Projects that have been designed or redesigned for the public good will be considered, including:
1) Products
2) Places such as buildings, landscapes and other environments
3) Processes such as social services and systems, public policy, as well as business practices

Projects in progress or completed in the past three years are eligible. Student, professional, and DIY (do-it-yourself) projects will be considered. Work may be undertaken anywhere in the world.
