Medical Equipment 101: A Primer

This is a primer on Medical Equipment and Architecturally Significant Equipment.  We will focus on fun-damental programming steps leading to identifying needed equipment, issues with relocating of existing equipment, and essential dimensional and utility service considerations.  We will review the essential elements of a manual of architecturally significant equipment and come to understand how it is used by the various involved parties.  We will cover definitions of typical technical specification terms and acronyms like OFOI, CFCI, Group I Medical Equipment or Architecturally Significant Equipment.  This presentation is a part of the ongoing AIA/AAH Healthcare Essentials webinar series.

Steven Juett is a Registered Biomedical Engineer, and Associate Vice President and Director of Clinical Systems Planning for the architectural and engineering firm RTKL Associates. Steve enjoys the specialty of perioperative clinical systems planning which encompasses Hybrid Operating Theaters and Smart OR systems. Steve received awards for his work on the Wireless Medical Telemetry Service by the American College of Clinical Engineers and from the FDA for working for FCC law proposals to secure the RF spectrum for public health. Mr. Juett has published several articles on medical equipment integration and communication systems in healthcare and is a frequent presenter.
