An approach toward ideas for advancing the effectiveness and value of architectural service provided in the construction contract administration phase. Identifying some of the challenges encountered during this phase, ideas for establishing a methodology in anticipation, to avoid them and preparations made to surmount them.

Learning Objectives

  1. Be able to evaluate and develop approaches toward preparedness and beneficial staff training.
  2. Discuss the benefits of CCA staff involvement in the project design and documentation process and potential toward proper interpretation of the contract documents.
  3. Understand the necessity, objectives and value of a clearly defined scope of services. 
  4. Develop an understanding of the approaches toward controlling the CCA procedures and process.

Attendees will earn 1.0 LUs. A link to a survey will be provided both at the end of the webinar and in a follow-up email sent one hour after the end of the webinar. The survey will close 48 hours after the conclusion of the presentation. All attendees at each site will submit one form: 1) page one: webinar survey and 2) page two: CES report form. AIA members and IDP record holders (http://www.aia.org/FreeTranscriptsforInterns) will have their credit recorded within seven business days (7) days of the webinar.

Speakers

Ken Soch is an associate principal with the architectural firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz in Chicago, Illinois, engaging in multifamily residential, student housing, higher education, office/business facility and laboratory projects, interior design and planning. 
As Technical Director he provides direction and support for the firm, for project technical design. He provides detailed technical support to the project teams, architects and designers, assisting with technical detail development and works with the project teams to identify new materials and systems. Responsible for developing and managing in-house project processes, document organization methodology and staff technical training. Reviews project documentation for quality assurance.
